Anti-DRM resources for DVDs

Joining Eric Raymond in an act of public service and civil disobedience, I am mirroring some resources that will help you with DVDs. General-purpose computing hardware should not be locked down as a delivery pipe for so-called "content".

The DeCSS code. This enables you to circumvent the encryption on HD-DVDs you own. If you own the hardware and DVD, it should be your choice (and your choice only) on what and where you want to watch it!

The HD-DVD decryption key (09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0). The decryption key that is used on most HD-DVD movies. I am providing this key since the MPAA and AACS LA attempted to suppress sharing it along with public knowledge of it.

HDCP master key. These magic bits defeat HDCP scrambling to prevent you from viewing high-definition video on the hardware of your choice.

Do not ask me technical questions about these; I have never used any of them.

More information about DRM and the problems it causes, please see Defective by Design. Breaking DRM is morally admirable.
